The Tikhvin, Russia, plant of Commercial Transport Systems manufactures freight cars based on designs developed by Starfire Engineering of Lawrence, Kansas. The company says: “Railcars coming out of Tikhvin are faster, have greater lift capacity, strength, and lifespan, reduced maintenance costs and stock levels, and lower energy and material consumption.
